We are the World & Luke 4:1-13

I'm really surprised that no-one caught this lyric error in the song "We are the World"  written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie in time before the recording of the song.

Willie Nelson sang that non-Scriptural verse in "We are the World" years ago.

His verse was "As God has shown us,  by turning stone to bread".

That NEVER happened.

Read Luke 4:1-13.

Colossians 2:6-8 is also recommended.

I think someone did notice the error in the lyrics.  A Gospel choir singing at a Michael Jackson tribute event in Gary, Indiana changed those lyrics in their performance.

It would be nice if I could find video from that performance (those Gary, Indiana tributes had some wonderful moments).   Feel free to comment below if you know of any Youtube, etc. links to those performances.

If Michael Jackson never had plastic surgery

If Michael Jackson never had plastic surgery

See how much Jermaine resembles your perception of a plastic surgery free Michael Jackson.
A 1985 magazine had an artist show what Michael Jackson might look like in the year 2000.

Michael Jackson related joke of the day...

Saw this on Twitter:

"Michael Jackson's Memorial Service got such huge ratings, NBC picked it up for the fall season."

Paul McCartney, Neverland and Michael Jackson

Sample from the transcript of the LARRY KING LIVE show telecast from Neverland
Death of A Legend
Aired July 2, 2009 - 21:00   ET

Larry KING: Did he see this first?

How did he pick this place?

Jermaine JACKSON: Well, I understand when they did the video, "Say, Say, Say," my sister La Toya was here and Paul McCartney and Michael. And he really liked it.

But see, to -- to back up before that, I had a ranch in Hidden Valley. And Michael would come over. And he loved what I had out there, because I had swans and everything.

And he said, Jermaine, I'm going to buy a beautiful ranch one day, because he loved the ranch. And this is -- I think that's what inspired him to do this. KING: Did he spend a lot of time here in the heyday?

JACKSON: A lot of time. A lot of time.

Further on in the program...

ROWLANDS: Larry, we're in the main house, just inside the main foyer. This is a good indication of what the entire house of 13,000 plus square foot plus house is like, a lot of wood. It just absolutely gorgeous, as you can see.

And Miko, our tour guide here, one of the things you see around here is the Sycamore logo. Michael Jackson bought this pretty much in tact in terms of the main house.

BRANDO: Correct. Yes, this was the logo of the previous owner. It was called the Sycamore Valley Ranch. So all over the property you see these little sycamore trees.

ROWLANDS You say Michael first stayed here when he was working on a video with Paul McCartney. He just came here and was basically put here. And you say he couldn't get it out of his mind.

BRANDO: He stayed here while he was doing the "Say, Say, Say" video. He enjoyed it. He liked it. He wanted to buy the property. He went on tour. And during our tour in '88, the Bad Tour, he had bought the property. He said Miko, I got the ranch.

Paul McCartney adds additional statement in tribute to Michael Jackson

We recorded in Air Studios, London with George Martin producing and eventually went to California to make the video for the song.

Funnily enough, I was staying at the ranch that Michael later bought and made into Neverland.

Economic Reality Prompts a Makeover at 'Neverland'
Investors Refurbish Michael Jackson's Estate; No More Orangutans

Quote:
Since January, more than 80 workers have been toiling at the ranch as part of a plan by real-estate investment firm Colony Capital LLC to convert the former money pit into a lucrative asset. The company has spent more than $3 million on landscaping and repairs to the property's electrical and plumbing systems. Soon Colony plans to bring in a small herd of Clydesdales to show visitors some signs of life on the all-but-abandoned estate.

Ever wonder what happened to some of the amusement park rides at Neverland?

This article talks about the history of the Neverland Ferris Wheel.
Yes, MJ bought a ferris wheel built in the same town that manufactured EMI records.   Oddly enough, that EMI manufacturing plant was built in the 1960's to keep up with the demand for Beatles records.   It is a small world afterall. BTW, I hear that Neverland's  Dragon Coaster, is now at Coney Island's Dreamland Park.

The Beatles and Michael Jackson

The Beatles and Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson appeared with the Beatles, Osmonds, Rolling Stones, Elvis and David Cassidy in this Spoof Comic Book cover.

And yes, there is the Beatles music publishing thing, but I won't get into detail on that here.

Michael Jackson, Andrae Crouch and Gospel Music

The Andrae Crouch Choir sang the hymn "Soon and Very Soon" at the Michael Jackson funeral
This is a  wonderful chorus, but it seemed like the song was possibly chosen because of a different definition of who the King is.
Interesting article here...

"According to Andrae, who was relaying to Verdine (Crouch's personal assistant)
to tell me over the phone just now, Andrae and Sandra did in fact visit with MJ
2 times, once ar (sic) the recording studio, and once at his home in the last 2
months, as recently as 3 weeks ago, asking for prayer concerning the anointing
of the Holy Spirit, and how he could make his music more `spiritual,'" reported
Nassaney in Crouch's fan page.

"He wanted to know what makes your hands go up, and makes you `come out of
yourself,' and what gives a `spirituality' to the music," Nassaney continued.

"So Andrae and Sandra explained to him about the `anointing' and about Jesus."

Afterward, Jackson reportedly asked the Crouches to sing to him his favorite
song.

"[S]o they sang that song to him, and joined hands and sang together, and he
(Jackson) said, `it was beautiful,'" Nassaney reported, according to Crouch's
account of the events.

Nassaney particularly emphasized the joining of hands   something untypical of
the "King of Pop," who was as well known for his eccentric behavior as he was
for his musical accolades.
